"As an experienced music manager and producer, my first choice has always been Ian Shipley when I need to hire an "official" photographer to shoot my artists. It is not just about being ultra-reliable or definitely getting the shots I need. It takes a certain attitude and attention to detail to work in the music industry at shows, recording sessions, etc with a skill of blending into the background and not disrupting things. Time is very much money in this business, and no one can hang about while a precious photographer decides the wind is in the wrong direction or the lighting in the dressing room is not quite right "so let's move out into the car park!"
For us, Ian has shot covers for award-winning CDs, live shows, backstage stuff, hotel stuff...etc etc and is travelling overseas with my artist this year to capture images on the road and at stadium gigs. Unlike many snappers, he has a versatility and experience of many, many different types of photography, so if you have an expensive car, a piece of fruit (don't ask!) or a fashion show, chances are he's been there, done that and bought the tee shirt. He knows how to handle people too, to get the very best out of them. And shooting on pro digital gear means he's super fast, so you get to see the images before you can blink.
